Don’t just take my word for it — the trustworthy Robert Sietsema of the Village Voice says so:

“Little India has bloomed like a rosewater lassi, so that now the thoroughfare and surrounding streets form a South Asian business district more impressive than either Jackson Heights or Iselin, New Jersey.”

The Port Authority is going to raise the PATH fare and also the Holland Tunnel charge — but in a surprising turn of events, they’re giving a break to those who drive low-emission vehicles! This is great news.

I loved my old couch, not least because we hauled it up four flights of stairs, and then down again, and then manoeuvred it both in and out of our garden level apartment. We had to get a different couch because we no longer have a guest bedroom, and it became clear that a sleeper sofa was in order. So I posted the couch on the “free” section of craigslist.org, and within 15 minutes, Lev emailed me. Success! I emailed my phone number back and got a call almost immediately. It turns out there’s a new tea shop in Jersey City, and the proprietor, Amy, wanted the couch. So Walt and I loaded it up on the top of our car, drove a few blocks, and now instead of going into a landfill, the couch will be used by someone else. Yay! And then we got our cheap foldout couch from the local furniture store, and now all we need are overnight guests. Craigslist rules like Britannia.
